1977. Buenos Aires, Argentina. Only "Blue" and "Hejira" were released here by the time, and I crashed into them by accident, I was 14 then and it was a shock. Her words and music were the soundtrack of my life since then. A curiosity: I broke my neck in 1987, and against all odds and medycal predictions, I overcame the secuels and got on my walking feet again. I didnt heard about Joni´s polio situation until 1990. Such a coincidence! My son's eyes saying: "Daddy, change that disc, please!"

I saw Shadows & Light on the telly when I was 16 (28 years or so ago) and fell in love with her voice and song writing style. Hejira is my all time favourite. White flags of winter chimneys, waving truce against the moon...

After almost 40 years of listening to Joni, I appreciate more and more her first album 'Song to a Seagull' and rate the song 'I Had a King' as her top song. I used to find this album somewhat difficult to listen to, but, as they say 'wisdom comes with age' so maybe I've arrived a little in that respect. Best Wishes to all Joni fans, worldwide. And thank you so very much, Joni, for bringing so much music and joy into our lives. We all love you a lot.

I'm one-third of the trio Gathering Time, and Joni's one of the people who taught me how to sing just by putting her music out there where I could listen.

Hi, I have been in love with Joni's amazing work since I was 15 years old and she still inspires me. I am a professional singer songwriter and live in the North West of England I work in a Band called Blue Tapestry which perform the music of Joni Mitchell and Carole King. www.bluetapestry.co.uk I have just released my new album Rosella Red with a cover of Both Sides Now - I'm very happy to have received five stars from the maverick magazine.

I've been a huge Joni Mitchell fan my whole life. Her music has soothed and guided me through the years. "Song to a Seagull" is still at the top of my list , but "The Hissing of Summer Lawns " is my current favorite.

I'm a wild seed again. Let the wind carry me. I've been a fan since the late 60s and the love will never die. Once you've had Joni, there is no one else.

Hi! I am from Argentina, I´m39. I love Joni´s songs and i became a singer for her.And now a poet, and a painter. She helped me to grow up and understand better the relationships between women and men.And to stand the disappointments in my life, trying to be a better person.A loving one.I never saw her in a concert, i´m so far, and i get fear of flying, beside i get not the enough money to travel-i remember now,i saw her singing in Berlin a Pink Floyd´ song, on T.V. And no more. The rest is imagi

I am the JMDL's foremost lurker. I very seldom post because I have no opinions on anything, and no one much cares anyway.

Joni has been my sage since I first heard Court & Spark when I was in 6th grade. I played guitar in high school, college, and beyond. I broke one too many acoustic steel strings trying to find Joni's open tunings (which I love) and now I have a phobia about tuning musical instruments. No Roland VG-8 back then. So I basically grew up with her music. And to this day she remains my favorite musician, with unique music and lyrics reflecting such clarity of vision, so prophetic and so disarming.

Big Yellow Taxi was the first song I ever heard, and of course ecology-minded and fey I loved the "tree museum "and the laugh at the end. But the first I ever knew of Joni was an advert in 'Evergreen' magazine; the line drawing on the LADIES OF THE CANYON album...I was magnetically drawn to the girl with the long blonde hair. Forty years later that girl's dignity, seriousness, honesty, artistry and the strange combination of vulnerable and tough still holds my attention.

I'm an artist and long-time Joni Mitchell fan; I first noticed her song-writing genius back in 1968 when I bought a 45 rpm of " Both Sides Now" recorded by Judy Collins. In the spring of 1970 I was hearing "Woodstock" for the first time by CSN and again noticed the writer. A few years later friends and I went to see Joni in New Haven CT in 1974 and that was one of the joys of my life. Also saw her perform at the anti-nuke protest in DC in 1979. Will always be a fan no matter what.

Back in the 80's my co-workers used to tease me about my obsession with Joni's music. One friend a cartoonist used to draw me in some of his cartoons with my security uniform on the job with my Joni Mitchell alblums under my arm. I later became a fan of CPR and did not know she was a pal of David Crosby until I read his Bio.

I'm an L.A.-based photographer, writer & pianist/composer. I've been a J. M. fan from the first time I heard "I Had a King" on "underground" radio 40 yrs ago. Who was that? I'd never heard the name before. But the song; that voice! Bought Song to a Seagull, and never looked back. J.M. has inspired me as a composer (songs w/out words) and, yes, even more recently as a writer of plays and screenplays. We've met briefly twice. One day I hope to share that which she's inspired. Thank you.

joni's mom and my mom were on the same bowling league in Macleod. We went to SAIT at the same time but didn't know each other although i remember her singing at parties. We share many of the same small town images, particularily of Fort Macleod. the Java Shop, a restaurant in Macleod, closed recently and i remembered Joni's song "They paved paradise..." i thought she would be interested and found this site. as much as we don't like it, Joni, we'll always be from Macleod. take care don

I discovered Joni whe I was in art college, in 1968. I, like most of you, immediately considered her family. She fills my life in a beautiful way. I eventually became a live event producer in Las Vegas, and married a musician. Joni Mitchell is the most influential person in my life.
